If you were late in paying your taxes that were due July 1, 2020, you may be eligible for a waiver or reduction of the interest that you would otherwise be charged.
You may be eligible for a waiver of interest if you: are a tax class 1 or condominium owner; are billed for property taxes quarterly by the Department of Finance (the assessed value of your property is less than $250,000); use this property as your primary residence; earned less than $150,000 per year; and have been adversely affected by COVID-19. If eligible, your interest will be waived for the period from July 1, 2020 through September 30, 2020. You must submit your interest waiver application by September 30, 2020.
You may be eligible for a reduction in interest if you: own a property with 30 or fewer residential units, or a tax class 4 property with an assessed value of less than $750,000; are billed for property taxes semi-annually by the Department of Finance (the assessed vaue of your property is greater than $250,000); and the business located at your property has seen a significant drop in income casued by the COVID-19 pandemic. If eligible your interest will be reduced from 18% to 7.5% for the period from July 1, 2020 through October 15, 2020. You must submit your interest waiver application by September 30, 2020.
